DAVID CAMPBELL

Marius

TOURED: Sydney

BIOGRAPHY:

David is honoured to play the role of Marius after twelve months of extraordinary success in America where he most recently headlined an exclusive 3 week engagement at New York's premiere night spot, Rainbow and Stars.
David's success in the States began with performances at the New York Cabaret Convention. This led to a tour of his one man cabaret show to sold out houses and critical acclaim in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Chicago. He recently appeared in Hollywood in an all-star salute to Stephen Schwartz and sang on American television as a key soloist on PBS Cabaret Thirteen programme hosted by Michael Feinstein. David was nominated by the Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs as 1997 Male New York Debut of the Year.
David has also built a very successful career in Australia in cabaret (several national tours and a regular in Sydney at the Tilbury) and as an actor he was nominated for a 1995 Mo Award for Best Musical Theatre Performer in the hit Australian Musical Only Heaven Knows. Other theatre credits include Love, Valour, Compassion (Footbridge Theatre), Away (Sydney Theatre Company), Dags (Ensemble Theatre), Relative Merits, 3 Winter's Green (Stables Theatre). David is a regular on The Midday Show and Good Morning Australia. He has recorded two C.D's for Polygram - Yesterday Is Now and Taking The Wheel - both currently available nationally and in America.

RECENT PROJECTS:

Since leaving Les Mis, David has been extremely busy. He has been performing his cabaret shows in New York, and around Australia. He performed in the Encore's production of Babes In Arms, in the Off-Broadway production of Saturday Night and appears on the cast recordings for both these shows. He participated in the workshop production of Thoroughly Modern Millie, lent his voice to the animated movie, King David, toured with John Bucchino in their Sweet Dreams Cabaret show. He returned to Australia for the Production Company's Guys and Dolls, and performed alongside Barbara Cook in two special concerts for the Olympic Arts Festival.

More recently, David toured Australia as Johnny O'Keefe in the new Australian musical, Shout. David is about to embark on a return season to the NY cabaret scene.
