BIOGRAPHY:

Born and raised in Dunedin, New Zealand, Chris' involvement in theatre began with high school productions followed by many performances in local amateur theatre. It was during one such production (Evita 1991) that Chris decided to head for Australia and the Queensland Conservatorium of Music where he completed four years of vocal study under the guidance of Greg Massingham. In 1994/1995 Chris interrupted his studies to return to New Zealand where he performed the role of Jean Valjean over one hundred times in five different productions within the hugely successful Les Miserables Consortium Tour of New Zealand. While in Brisbane, Chris was a regular guest artist with both the Queensland Pops and Queensland Symphony Orchestras. Other credits include roles in Gianni Schicci, Albert Herring, The Bear and Billy Budd. in 1996, Chris toured Asia and South Africa with Les Miserables and is again proud to he associated with this wonderful musical for its 10th Anniversary Tour. Chris would like to dedicate this performance to his Dad, Ren.

RECENT PROJECTS:

Chris has been quite busy since the end of the tour. In 2000, Chris made his West End debut in a featured ensemble role in the original London cast of Napoleon. Chris then returned to his native Dunedin to take on the role of Jean Valjean yet again. He also appeared in the lead role for the Wellington production of the New Zealand musical Rush!

In late 2001, Chris returned to London to continue his association with Les Mis by joining the London company in the role of Courfeyrac and as the first cover Jean Valjean.
