BIOGRAPHY:
Born and raised in Dunedin, New Zealand, Chris' involvement
in theatre began with high school productions followed by
many performances in local amateur theatre. It was during
one such production (Evita 1991) that Chris decided to head
for Australia and the Queensland Conservatorium of Music where
he completed four years of vocal study under the guidance
of Greg Massingham. In 1994/1995 Chris interrupted his studies
to return to New Zealand where he performed the role of Jean
Valjean over one hundred times in five different productions
within the hugely successful Les Miserables Consortium
Tour of New Zealand. While in Brisbane, Chris was a regular
guest artist with both the Queensland Pops and Queensland
Symphony Orchestras. Other credits include roles in Gianni
Schicci, Albert Herring, The Bear and Billy
Budd. in 1996, Chris toured Asia and South Africa with
Les Miserables and is again proud to he associated
with this wonderful musical for its 10th Anniversary Tour.
Chris would like to dedicate this performance to his Dad,
Ren.
RECENT PROJECTS:
Chris has been quite busy since the end of the tour. In 2000,
Chris made his West End debut in a featured ensemble role
in the original London cast of Napoleon. Chris then
returned to his native Dunedin to take on the role of Jean
Valjean yet again. He also appeared in the lead role for the
Wellington production of the New Zealand musical Rush!
In late 2001, Chris returned to London to continue his association
with Les Mis by joining the London company in the role
of Courfeyrac and as the first cover Jean Valjean.
