BIOGRAPHY:
Martin Lane has varied experience which includes theatre,
television, opera and musicals. Born in 1967, Martin has a
Diploma of Theatre Arts from the Darwin Institute of Technology
and a Bachelor of Music from the Victorian College of the
Arts. Since 1988 his theatrical appearances have included
the role of Uncle Jim in Thicker than Water and the
auctioneer in Vincent - an a cappella opera both for
St Martins Theatre Company in Melbourne. In film and television
he has appeared regularly in a range of roles for Grundy Television
in Neighbours and Australia's Most Wanted. During
1993 Martin played Young Frank in Pighouse Productions' Seven
Days Under Mavis and appeared in various roles in the
ABC's The Damnation of Harvey McHugh. Martin made his
professional debut in musical theatre as part of the Australian
Tour of Blood Brothers covering the role of Sammy and
in 1995 he joined the cast of Simon Gallagher's production
of Pirates of Penzance. Martin joined the chorus of
the Victoria State Opera for its 1995/96 seasons. He was then
engaged to play the role of Rapunzel's Prince in the Elston,
Hocking and Woods production of Into the Woods in Melbourne.
Martin later appeared in the role of Pedro in the 1996 Ballarat
Opera Festival's production of Villa Lobos Magdalena.
He has just completed the 1997 Melbourne season with Opera
Australia. Martin is extremely happy to be part of Les
Miserables and is looking forward to the adventures ahead.
RECENT PROJECTS:
Martin is currently touring the UK in the new touring production
of Sunset Boulevard.
